I am honored to sit as the current Chair on the Foundation for Amigos de las Américas, and I speak for the rest of the Board of Trustees when I express our gratitude for your gift to our organization. I would like to report back on how your gift to the Foundation has had a powerful and positive impact on AMIGOS.
The Foundation for Amigos de las Américas exists to build
and manage a strong foundation corpus that provides income to support AMIGOS as it grows and innovates. We present compelling opportunities to make a difference and inspire donors to support AMIGOS financially with significant gifts to the Path Forward Campaign.
Our vision is to expand the reach of the AMIGOS mission and create increased access to our programs for all youth. In the last three years, we are proud that we have had an especially positive impact on AMIGOS in three areas:
We will launch the Path Forward Campaign into the public sphere later this year and are looking forward to sharing our goals and achievements with a larger audience. We are currently working hard to take our success forward into 2017 by increasing our investment in AMIGOS for organizational and regional growth and providing more financial assistance awards and endowments for the future.
Thank you again for your faith and investment in AMIGOS. Your gift to the Foundation ensures that AMIGOS will have a long history and a sustained impact.
Warm regards,
Elizabeth Blowers-Nyman
Chair, The Foundation for Amigos de las Américas
The Foundation now contributes 4% of the AMIGOS annual operating budget with plans to grow that contribution significantly.
The Foundation Associate Director is leading our first-ever alumni engagement and major gifts program, as well as launching the inaugural capital campaign for AMIGOS.
Since our founding, more than 100 community project “Bevil” grants have been awarded for local projects in Latin America through a competitive application process.
In 2014, the Foundation supported the AMIGOS marketing rebrand with the development of brand styling and messaging for the organization.
In 2015 and 2016, the Foundation supported the modernization of AMIGOS fundraising systems, which included building a major gifts program with improved stewardship processes to reinforce our ongoing appeals and alumni outreach events on the East and West Coasts.
In 2016, financial awards from the National Office increased in three dramatic ways:
• 2015 total distributed: $177,071
• 2016 total distributed: $319,139
• 2015 average award: $1,686
• 2016 average award: $2,144
• 2015 participants: 109
• 2016 participants: 148
"I have heard countless stories from participants that confirm my financial support makes a difference. This impact fuels my passion for future giving."
Our current and future success is due to generous pledges and gifts from our supporters. A heartful thank you.
